3W Ceramic Encased Wire Wound Resistors primarily intended for use in loudspeaker crossovers, close tolerance ( typically ± 5%). Available in power ratings from 3W to 17W. Main Stock range 5W and 10/11W.
Ceramic Encased Wire Wound Resistors are primarily intended for use in loudspeaker crossovers, but their close tolerance and rugged characteristics lend themselves to many other applications. We have them available in most values in power ratings from 3W to 17W, our primary ranges are 5W and 11W as these give optimum power rating compared to physical size.
They are fabricated from a coil of resistance wire, wound about a former, and welded at each end to a cap, to which in turn the tinned copper lead is fixed. The unit is sealed with a ceramic mix into a highly stable preformed ceramic case. Unless otherwise stated resistors are ±10% or closer tolerance. (Most ±5%). For higher powers two equal resistors in parallel give half value at 2x power (safer at 1.75x)
